Merhaba! I would appreciate a translation lütfen.
"I have decided not to come to Istanbul in Haziran. Maybe I will come in Ağustos on my way from the States to China."
Also, can anyone tell me which spelling is correct - tabii or tabi? I have seen it both ways but I thought Turkish never used two vowels together.

ı think 'tabi' is better |
İf you look at the online dictionary tabii and tabi mean different things and İ think tabii is the one you mean.
Two vowels are allowed together eg saat.

"Istanbul'a Haziranda gitmemeye karar verdim. Ağustos ayında, Amerika'dan çin'e giderken uğrayacağım."
-tabi- is the correct spelling.

My dictionary has "tabi" and "tabii". It lists "tabii" as meaning "of course" which is the word I was looking for. Teşekküler.

According to what?
tabi is tâbi in fact, which means the dependent of a rule or law;
Küçük çocuklar bu kurallara tabi değiller.
Little kids are not dependent to these rules.
Another tabi came from "tab etmek" which means "press"/"print"
Tabi means printer, which is a very odd word, not used much. Almost never.
But "of course" is tabii which two "i"s. It comes from the word tabiat=nature, tabii=natural.

In your translation of the second sentence I think you need to add a belki, or say uğrayabilirim. The English isn't making a promise.
don't agree about tabi.
Tabii means OK, or of course, and is in every day use.
tabi is more legal use. It means subject too. e.g. bu mal gümrük vergisine tabidir. This item is subject to customs duty.

My dictionary is from LingvoSoft Talking Dictionary software that I paid about 30 USD for and downloaded. However, it only pronounces the English words, so the talking aspect of it is of no help to me. I found it by Googling "English Turkish dictionary" I believe. I also found the dictionary that is available through this website and I use this one as well, especially when I am sending an email to my friend whose spoken English is much better than his written English.
