I'm lookıng for anyone out there (females only please) who would be so kınd to help me wıth my turkısh. Whether you are a turkısh woman ıt doesn't matter but no males please as I am happıly marrıed.

I'm also curıous as well at how other people learnt turkısh

Just two corrections;
if you are addressing to people (more than one person), you should use the plural you "siz" form and the suitable suffixes:
nasılsın << singular
nasılsınız << plural

another thing is;
thank form in Turkish is either "teşekkürler" or "teşekkür ederim". Not only "teşekkür" neither "teşekkürler ederim". Maybe yours is acceptable in some ways but odd.

Can I ask, what are the things you would like to learn?

Hi Louise,

It's frustrating isn't it. You are by no means alone.
I'm in exactly the same boat. Married for just over a year to a lovely Turkish man and I still have not mastered it. I'm absolutely desperate to chat with mum-in-law and family but cannot and whenever I'm in Turkey the frustration of it all upsets me terribly. I came back from Turkey 4 days ago and this time ... THIS IS IT. I have to do it now. Hubby has vowed to help me more and I must keep up the motivation to learn.

Good luck Louise, it is hard and if you need to speak to another like you, please don't hesitate to mail me.

Best wishes

Jo

I can't believe you guys can't learn! Several of us on this site have had to teach ourselves with no help from any other Turkish speakers. I started with a grammar book-Teach Yourself Turkish and learned the grammar rules,how to conjugate verbs etc. Since then I have bought more grammar books and I read, read and then re-read.
After about two years I am competent enough to communicate whilst in Turkey and do translations on this site.
I'm so jealous that you have your own live-in tutors! Just get on with it!

Just out of curiosity, why is that big ambition to learn turkish? Where does it come from?

If you're asking me,I have no idea. I started so that I could say some things to people I know there, then I got hooked. Anyway at my age learning keeps the brain active.
It has also been invaluable on subsequent visits there especially in Eastern Turkey.

Hi Sonunda

Believe me I'm trying to learn. I work long hours and come home to look after a house, 3 men and a dog. Trying to find time after my hectic life is a struggle. Thank you for your support, I will get on with it.... and I will do it.

Thank you
Best wishes
