Its a diminutive, means somethıng lıke "dear little".
When more suffixes startıng wıth vowels are added the "k" becomes ğ.

As I hear; North Cyprus Turkish people uses for everything this "cık" instead of "the"
I heard a funny little story about that; A Turkish man goes to North Cyprus with his car (of course by ferry) that left side steering wheeled for visiting his friend. But at there traffic goes on left side against to Turkey. When he want to overtake a truck He asks his friend at the right "any vehicle is coming?" cos he cannot see. He replies "bus-cık, bus-cık". He understands "Bas Çık", he steps on the accelerator(bas), he goes out to the roads other side (çık) then crashes with a BUS.
