In Search of Beauty Exhibition

“In Search of the Beauty in Different Cultures” exhibition telling the 10000 year-old story of seeking beauty in Anatolia can be visited at Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum, Sultanahmet until Agust 17th.

The exhibition is composed of 700 exclusive works made of stone, marble, soil, bronze, gold, silver, gem stones, together with manuscripts, glass, wood, fabric, leather, mother-of-pearl objects, carpets, kilims and ceramics. The works were brought from five cities and seven museums with the cooperation of Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum and HSBC bank.

The works exhibiting the symbols of the civilizations in Anatolia are selected from the collections of Archeology, Topkapı Palace, Hagia Sofia, Anatolian Civilizations, Antalya. Afyonkarahisar and Malatya Museums.

Four imperial edicts of Sultan Süleyman, the Magnificent will be on display for the first time. The sword of Sultan Süleyman embellished with dragon design, the gate of Cizre Ulu Mosque – again with dragon design, two different horsemen figures from 7th and 8th centuries BC, gold bracelet from Troia and spelled shirt from Seljuk period are among the pieces that attract attention.

I just came back from Istanbul,Kurt. I repeat: When did this exhibition START. Already in May or in June?????
