Hello,
I shall be going to Turkey at the end of their summer, probably in October and the low season, and will be staying for 3 months. I have been to Istanbul briefly in transit last year and stayed for afew days, but fell in love with the city and country, so now I would like to experience more of it. Can anyone help me with accomodation as to where I can rent an apartment or a room in Istanbul for a couple of months. How do I go about this?
Also, I am an Australian citizen and my tourist visa is valid for 3 months, but upon exit how long before I can return to Turkey again for another 3 months. I have relatives in Bulgaria where I am able to stay indefinitely and am wondering if I can exit Turkey and re-enter from there for a second 3 month tourist visa.
I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions. Thankyou.

Finding an apartment:
1. Walk round the area you like, see the Kiralik signs in the window, and telephone the number
2. Go to a real estate agent (Emlak). There are lots in every neighbourhood. Give them details of what you are looking for. They will help you find an apartment to rent.
3. If you look at adverts in the newspapers for Kiralik you either get Sahibinden (this is direct from owner) or they are ads placed by the emlaks. DO NOT just look at the ads for foreigners in English in the Turkish Daily NEws. These are overpriced apartments where companies are paying for an expat. Rents normally very very high, compared with flats a few streets away with no Bosphorus view, or with no swimming pool!!!
Visa:
1. You can go straight out and come back in again
2. If you can prove you have money in the bank you can get up to a 5 year tourist visa from the police in Istanbul. This residence permit does not give you the right to work, but if you are having a six month or one year career break, it may be a good option

Hello Aussie
I would recommend you the Cihangir area, where it is the way very close to all places in Istanbul and Taxim. And nearly most of the habitants are foreigner there. And it is a safe area lately. Very nice social people out there and close to old part of city and also close to Taksim area.
My brother works as a real estate agent, i am sure he will be delighted to help you. You can contact me throug via pm. so i can tell you details.
Regards
Sui
