What about New Year (with the attendant yıl başı ağacı - isn't it some kind of surrogate Christmas with presents for the children (a relatively new thing, I think)...?

H.

especially new year ..eeee i dont like dis idea...if we think widely..never changes with new year hea?just a month finish and another one starts..and we celebrate this crazily..wads the difference between 31 and 1?but yes for christians its a religius celebration...im respectful..instead of celebrating im just wishing a happy life till the last day...

i prefer giving meanings to the days and moments...others meaningful things maynot be so meaningful for me..i prefer giving my own meaning..

i agree with u , but sometimes there is people that we love and care about like to be special to us , whatever the way is by a gift or a flowers or by words , the only one thing that matters is to remember them .so these days are only for making refresh.

And I'm sure that's what all the CEOs of the companies that make so much money of the back of this think!

That's soemthing really good, but doesn't say anything agáinst those days I mean, ofcourse, wild picked flowers that you get unexpected are probably much more appreciated, much more exciting to get, than a bunch of expensive red roses. But wouldn't you put them with love and care in the water, because your lover gave them to you? Don't we all love to get something from the ones we love, no matter what day?

I was very surprised this valentine's day. 'We' (me and my man) don't like the commerciality of valentine's day, so last year we kinda just skipped it. This year he gave me a drawing made by one of his closest friends, a drawing of him and me, made by a picture. Really wonderful. I loved it because it was a personal present and not a commrecial-valentines-day one. And i liked the fact he gave it for Valentine's day because it's a lover's day. He can buy presents for all his friends whenever he wants, but I'm the only one he can give osmething for valentine's day.

But I'm glad you're such a warm and generous person Ramayan

Well it is only recently that Valentine's Day has become a national celebration of love! When I was at school, the whole point of Valentine's Day was to tell someone, secretly, that you loved them, with the hope that they would love you too. If you already had a girlfriend or boyfriend you didn't send cards...and DEFINITELY if you were married you would not

PS Ramayan what an old romantic you are!!! You surprise me lol
