You need to get a work permit first. There are numerous threads about how to do this - just use the "search" facility.

If you do manage to get a permit, be prepared for very long hours with not much pay.

My advice is don´t even think about it at the moment. I live on the Bodrum peninsula and over the last couple of weeks the Jandarma have had a big clampdown on illegal workers - deporting them with a five year ban on returning to Turkey. Two all-inclusive hotels in our town were ´raided´ and the illegal workers (from several different countries) were taken by the Jandarma and held and questioned for 12 hours before being deported.

Work permits for foreigners who are not considered essentially employed are practically impossible to get. Working for a foreign company based in Turkey might be possible.

So...this means no more bail money??? Could you just leave me a couple of cellphones and laptops then??? I may have to resort to bribes.

ok ok....one laptop and 2 cell phones but, THAT´S IT LIR! You need to start being a little more careful, lest our entire operation be exposed!

I think the worst is over and I will try to keep a very low profile ( possibly hiding behind the bar?)so hopefully I will be ok for a couple more months.

(BTW - if I don´t need the laptop and phones for bribes can I keep them? )
