A rug trade experience in Turkey:

What I Learned Buying a Rug in Turkey by Mitchell Weisburgh.

A nice story for trade education

I loved this!!! Hehe no wonder traders are so persuasive - their methods clearly work - patience and persistance DO sometimes pay off

Great story! It reminded me of constant traps in Istanbul I must be pretty resistant though as the total number of rugs I´ve bought so far is ZERO lol

That´s exactly how we ended up buying a beautiful silk carpet in India having had no intention to buy one whatsoever.I won´t get fooled again!

Well, I´m a big, big fool than. I bought not only an expensive carpet but - I later found out - also a much too expensive nargileh in Istanbul. And in several other countries I fell for these tourist traps as well. The only good deal I ever made comparing prices at home was buying a djembe in The Gambia, and maybe even then I paid too much for local prices.

So does that mean that Indians have the same selling methods? {#lang_emotions_lol}

Global marketing and global sales - that´s what we´ve come to lol

Fortunately Polish sellers are unlikely to change their methods - it is them who do you a favour selling something

Everywhere they have the same methods, including offering tea: Delhi, Jaypur, The Gambia, Columbo on Sri Lanka, Cairo, Luxor etc. Though I never experienced it in Amsterdam... Probable ´we´, the Dutch, are too stingy to offer tea....
