what about this? can someone give an exact translation please?

´iyiki doğdun canım arkadaşım´ someone told me it meant

´happy birthday my dearest friend´ but i thought ´canım´ means ´my life´.

is it appropriate for a friend?

Canım is used all the time by Turkish people - between friends of both sexes
