I don't trust the postal service in Turkey. My friend lives in a house and therefore my packet wouldn't have been opened by a neighbour. I sent some papers and photographs and it didn't reach it's destination. I had to pay extra to send via secure post and only then did it arrive a month later. I know friends who've sent bulky letters/parcels to Turkey and they never make it to the recipient.

As for sending currency, I have used Western Union several times with no problem and the cash is ready for pick up in about an hour. They are on-line so you can do it over the internet.

Tiny. I have sent money to Turkey along with a letter on numerous occasions, i always send registered post from England, it arrives within 5 days and they have to sign for it plus you are insured if it does get lost or stolen along the way. If you have send normal post, it can take up to 5 weeks to arrive. Western Union is the quickest but a little more expensive.

I also recommend Western Union. It's so easy. You give your bankaccount number, the amount of money, the transaction costs (€17,- for about €125,- euros) and then you get a printed paper with a number. The one you sent it to must take that number and his Identification Card or Passport to his bank, show it and he can take the money. You don't even need his bankaccoudn number, only his first and last name and his city of residence will do!!
