Türkçe doesn't have any articles (definate or indefinate). Instead if you wish to refer to a specific example of a noun, you put the noun into the accusative state.

hey bud well i will write what it says in my book here goes
apparently turkish does not distinguish between a and the. in the case of the direct object of a verb , HOWEVER!, turkish DOES make a distinction ( i wish they would make up their flippin minds!)
for direct objects, the equivaLEnt of THE is ending ~i or yi if the noun ends in a vowel
the eqquivalent of A is bir or nothing( following so far?)
EG masadan kalem al= take a pen from the table
masadan kalemI al= take THE pen from the table
beyaz bluz giy= wear a blue blouse
beyaz bluzU giy =wear THE blue blouse
araba kullan= use a car
arabayI kullan= use THE car
GOT IT

It is not often I get called posh

I must put some more rips in my tights so I don't get mistaken for being posh again

Deli, cool down and explain again please!

I think there is one thing that us foreigners should try to do: think in Turkish. I know that it doesn't come naturally, god do I know! But try it. And try not to think how to translate 'the' in Turkish. Because it doesn't work that way. In Turkish you can define things, just not the way we do it. You can't always look for an exact equivalent.
