I wanted to ask it for a long time... ><
If i am in Turkey and want to ask someone "how are you?" - to say to him "nasýlsýn" instead of "nasýlsýnýz" is that awful? i mean, is it really significant to say "nasýlsýnýz" and not just "nasýlsýn" / "nerelisiniz" and not just "nerelisin"?

I don´t think people will be offended by you saying ´nasýlsýn´, but i guess it all depends on your judgement skills of when to say -sýn and when -sýnýz. In any case, for me, in every unformal situation (family / friends) , i would use the -sýn, but only when the person in question is my age or younger.
In every other situation (except children) it is -sýnýz.

Generally it´s considered an insult to call someone older than you - sen- but as a foreinger you have a lot of slack to mess up. It´s usualy good to default by saying - siz - and then if you know someone well, or if they´re a few years younger than you, you can say -sen -

So if someone is asking you the question "how are you?", is it right to reply -
Nasýlsýn? = iyiyim, teþekkür ederim. SEN nasýlsýn?
Nasýlsýnýz? = iyiyim, teþekkür ederim. SIZ nasýlsýnýz?

Say SÃZ to people whom you dont know very well and whom are bigger to you. (people you ask something on the street, familymembers of a friend in Turkey whom you dont know very well, the parents of your partner in turkey if you have one, anyone you happen to speak who is older than you are and whom youre not close with)
Say SEN to all people who you are close with, or significantly younger than you are. (all children, close friends, partner)
If you are not sure, use SIZ, they will not say anything if thats what they expect from you, they will laugh and tell you to use SEN if they prefer you to use SEN
