I checked out the list admin mentions. The Taj Mahal is number 3. a word of warning for anyone thinking of going to see the Taj Mahal - It is closed on Mondays - Yes really! I went a few years ago to a wedding in Dheli, one of the aunties lived in Agra and we decided to drive her home so we could go see the Taj, we went on a Monday and lo and behold! It was closed. Imagine going all the way to India, then driving with 4 other people (and luggage) in a very (very) small car another 300 odd miles to arrive at a wonder of the world and discover it is closed. DOH!

Agra is also very small, very dirty and full of mozzies! the Highlight of that trip (apart from seeing the outside of the Taj, was going into the crazy, brand new and totally out of place 'Pizza Hut' to wash our hands and faces and use the toilet! HEHEHEH

Incidentally - The Taj was built by a Muslim Prince called Shah Jahan (Sp) it was a tomb for his wife. Across the (Holy River - Yamiana) is his palace, you can sit in the very spot he built for himself on the battlements and gaze across the river at the Taj, as the sun goes down it goes all pink and is absolutely beautiful. Its quite a spiritual experience, knowing that you are sitting in the same place as him and seeing the same view.
