It would probably be a great thing if your country worked on their own economic issues instead of depending on the US for it’s citizens to make a living wage.

{#lang_emotions_flowers}{#lang_emotions_flowers} everything SPOT ON. I was ready to pounce, but you made my every point first

Tips are not guaranteed and should not be expected. The word it is an acronym for “to insure good service”.

I always make sure to tig waiters when the service is good!!

(sorry to lighten your serious debate gg but I just couldn´t resist that!  {#lang_emotions_laugh_at})

ok... if it´s word technicalities...

also ré·gime n.

    1. A form of government
    2. A government in power; administration:   <---- (a regime IS an administration)
  1. A prevailing social system or pattern.
  2. The period during which a particular administration or system prevails.

i am an EDUCATED PERSON. just because i don´t agree with your point of view, doesn´t mean i am uneducated.

ok... if you think, i NEED... to educate myself more with the issues, or i lack in that department ... i will. and i will try and say this in the kindest way i can... You should also try and work on your diplomatic skills.

diplomacy n.

  1. The art or practice of conducting international relations, as in negotiating alliances, treaties, and agreements.
  2. Tact and skill in dealing with people. See synonyms at tact.     <----  (this one... you seem to be lacking in this department)

The use of words also entails societal context. In the US the term "regime" has negative conotations. Even though the technical dictionary definition may be the same, the actual use has different meanings depending on the culture one is dealing with.

BTW another interesting one is the word propaganda. It´s been changed to Public Relations, Advertising...and so forth. In reality it´s all propaganda. Edward Bernays is considered the father of Public Relations.....

Cultural context is one of the problems with learning a language.

............and yes, I do agree with you, we all need to hone our diplomatic skills. I for one am guilty of errors in that domain. Many of my verbal communications are too dry for much of the world....

congratulations for Obama.

but there are just a few couple of things, that i worry about.

but then again... i guess i´ll just have to wait and see what this new regime can bring to all of us...

(come to think of it, politicians are notorious for making promises they can´t keep.... hmmm... let´s just wait and see... )

He hasn´t even started yet. He will, I´m sure displease a lot of people who didn´t get their choice. Even out of those that voted for him, I´m sure there are more than a few who will find things to be upset about.

He has a very complicated job to do. He has been left with two wars, an ecomomy is crisis. I sincerely think he is the best man for this daunting job. Please be patient

As far as outsourcing jobs, what would you do? Would you feed your own children, or send money to a third country where things are cheaper, while your own children starve?

Right now I´m reminded of JFK´s words..."Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country"  In reading that speech again, I came upon these words that came right after that...." My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man"
