British residents of Didim, a resort town in the Aegean coast of Turkey, will be represented at the town council, mayor of Didim said on Sunday.

The number of Britons who bought properties in Didim soared significantly after the law that made it easier for foreigners to acquire real estates in Turkey, Mayor Mumin Kamaci said.

So far, nearly 10,000 houses were sold to foreigners, especially British people, Kamaci said, adding that a municipal committee was established for these people to be represented at the town council.

He said the committee would work just like other committees of the town council such as, committees of women, youth and tourism.

Kamaci stated that foreigners living in Didim would be able to appeal to the committee of foreigners for their problems or projects.

Mmmm have read the artýcle.  I think it is referring to the ex pats that have bought properties only to find out that their tapu´s have either been sold on several times or have huge debts on them.  So I for one am pleased that they may have some way of getting help to sort out their problems.  I have quite a few friends that have been affected.  And yes I am a BRIT :O)
