I´ve been looking for the book by Çetin Altan called "Büyük Gözaltý" and I am having no luck finding the English translation (I think the English title is "The Grand Surveillance"). Has anybody come across it somewhere? My library can only order the Turkish version, which is definitely way above my skill level (I´m a beginner learner). Has anybody read it? Is it worth looking for?

Thanks.

If I can find this book "Büyük Gözaltý"- " The Grand Surveillance"-  (The English version of this book) by Cetin Altan, I can send it to any address to U.S.A..

This is an old book from 1973.

He is well-known Turkish novelist and writer.

He is now a journalist-column writer- in Milliyet, Ýstanbul.

He was a former member of parliament.

In this book, "The Surveillance", he talks about his memories during his poltical life in jail, Ýstanbul.

Thank you both for checking and for you responses. I´m starting to wonder if there´s an Engilsh translation at all? I saw some clips of him reading an alphabet book on http://langmedia.fivecolleges.edu/turkish/alfabe/index.html and I thought he was great Of course I have a long way to go from an alphabet book to "Büyük Gözaltý" lol.
