Nasýl desem... keþke Türkçe konuþabilseydim, o zaman konuþabilirdik ( or sohbet edebilirdik).

But doesn´t that translation imply the past?  In English - If only I had been able to speak Turkish  (at that time)  then we could have talked´

I took it to mean ´If only I was able to speak Turkish (now) then we would be able to talk (now and in the future) - my translation was probably still wrong but I didn´t use past tense because of the way I interpreted the sentence.
