What is the best way to ask the name of an object or item of food? For example, if I´m at the bakery and I don´t know the name of a pastry, how do I ask, "What is this called?" or say "I don´t know what this is called."

Teþekkür ederiniz!

Quoting Irishclove

Bu nedir?

 I just say ´Bu ne?´ or ´O ne?´  - it seems to work!

If you add "acaba" (a word that  corresponds to "I wonder") at the end of your questions,  they will sound much politer.

"Bu nedir acaba?"
