I just joined to TURKISH LANGUAGE CLASS,
I like to learn Turkish,
I need an English-Turkish/Turkish-English dictionary (printed book),
I have searched the internet and discovered 2 dictionaries:

1) Altýn Sözlük Golden Dictionary Ýngilizce - Türkçe Türkçe - Ýngilizce

2)Langenscheidt´s Universal Dictionary
English - Turkish Turkish - English

but I couldn´t find detailed information about them.
I need a brief info about them such as:
how many words are available?
does it have phonetic?
is there example sentence for words?
...

could anybody help me?
does anybody suggest which dictionary is proper for me? or suggest me other dictionary?

teþekür edýrem

With regard to Langenscheidt, they have several sizes.

The two I own are:

the "pocket size" Universal Dictionary Turkish -447 pages, 30,000 references,

the "medium size" New Standard Dictionary Turkish -1,104 pages (and the pages are twice as big as the pocket size) with 80,000 references.

Redhouse also have excellent Turkish dictionaries in various sizes.

Also available on the internet is the easy to use dictionary on this site, and the excellent

http://www.tureng.com/ which I also use.

Hope this helps.{#lang_emotions_bigsmile}

I´m a big fan of Redhouse. Their Büyük Elsözlüðü (which may be too big for your purposes) is outstanding. It is full of idiomatic usage, as well as useful examples for most entries. Their smaller versions (Elsözlüðü is also quite convenient, though much less thorough and interesting to use.

You could add the online dictionaries: www.yeminlisozluk.com, http://www.seslisozluk.com and

http://www.langtolang.com/

I use yeminlisozluk because it has example sentences, in which the word is used under different circumstances. Almost no dictionary however mentions the necessary tense that comes with a verb (f.i. beklemek +4, güvenmek +3). You can only find that in examples.
