Does anyone know if mobile internet is available in Turkey?  Most of the mobile phone companies in the UK (e.g. Vodafone) now offer this service.  It usually takes the form of a small modem stick which you plug into into a USB port on your laptop which gives instant broadband internet access.

If anyone knows if there is something similar in Turkey and has a rough idea of what it costs I would be very grateful.

Thanks.

I think only Vodafone might have been doing this in Türkiye, but I don´t use it, so I don´t know if they work like that or not. I hope someone who uses Vodafone help you

why dont you contact vodafone and find out directly from them? it seems like they may charge you extra for using it abroad (just like in case of phones) and not all the countries may have vodafone mobile services.

I think you are talking about mobile 3G broadband internet access, which is normally a contract on its own.  You get a usb stick and it has to be activated similar to a mobile phone.  The transmitters are not the same as for mobile telephone services.  I have a data card (same principle at the USB stick) in the UK which I use for work, and coverage is very patchy.

Here is the coverage area for the UK - which is a little hit and miss.

Yes, best bet is to contact the reciprical mobile telephone company in Turkey to see if there is 3G mobile service available yet.

A quick search for 3G in Turkey has brought up this site, and there is more information.  Looks like Turkcell are the only ones at the moment with 3G broadband access.
