Navyman translated the sentence ´I love you as always´ with ´seni her zaman ki gibi seviyorum´

Under which circumstances does one use ´ki´ in these constructions, and when is just ´gibi´ enough?

Sentences like:

She behaved exactly like I thought she would.

The test went just as I expected.

I went to work, as I always do after having read the newspaper.

yes, u r right. u can use it. As u know some words does not translate one to one to another language.

Thanks, Harpoon, but actually I was more after the rules behind it. There surely must be some situations in which ´ki´ absolutely cannot be used.

And how would you translate these sentences then(with or without ki)?

-She behaved exactly like I thought she would.

-The test went just as I expected.

-I went to work, as I always do after having read the newspaper.

"Ki" is used when specific time or a case of possession is stated, such as when you are comparing two similar events that happened in different times, or either two similar items.

For instance;

Tom has a cute little kitten, just like Alice does.

Tom´un, Alice´inki gibi sevimli küçük bir kedi yavrusu var.

or

I hope you won´t make a scene in the church like you did last week.

Umarým kilisede geçen haftaki gibi rezalet çýkarmazsýn.

As for your sentences, I don´t think it is possible to translate them using "ki" unless some additional comparable information is added.=)

For example, if you say the second sentence this way;

The test went as good as the last time.

Then it´d be;

Test geçen seferki gibi iyi geçti.

first of all, this "-ki" is not separate; i.e. "herzamanki gibi"

it is called "ilgi zamiri-relative pronoun"

whether you use gibi or not, the rule is the same. you must use it when you are omitting the noun, since it makes pronoun.

Your house is close, but mine is closer. Senin evin yakýn ama benimki daha yakýn.

Your house is close, but my house is closer. Senin evin yakýn ama benim evim daha yakýn.

I love you as always. Seni her zamanki gibi seviyorum.

I love you as I always love you. Seni her zaman sevdiðim gibi seviyorum.

I think simply it can be said that if you are not using a word with "-dik" you must use -"ki"

She behaved exactly like I thought she would. Tam tahmin ettiðim gibi davrandý.

The test went just as I expected. Test tam beklediðim gibi geçti.

I went to work, as I always do after having read the newspaper. Her zaman gazeteyi okuduktan sonra yaptýðým gibi iþe gittim. OR Her zamanki gibi gazeteyi okuduktan sonra iþe gittim.
