Hi all. I'm new to this site, and relatively new to Turkish, but as I've been learning, and one thing I've been struggling with is words with multiple and unrelated meanings.
Or for example, çekmek. I know I can use it as 'withdraw', as in to withdraw money from a bank, and 'to take out', 'to extract', and other related meanings. Then I find it used in a baffling context, look it up, and see that it also might mean 'to endure', 'to suffer'. And possibly 'to absorb', 'to breath in' or even 'to attract', 'to please'.
If anyone else has commonly used words with multiple meanings that they'd like to share, I'd be very interested to hear about them.
