Quoting hajoura

Is the sentence  "Ben Ýstanbul´a gidiyorum"   translated to  "I am going to Istanbul"

and "Ben öðrenciyim"  to   "I am a teacher"??

The first is correct. The second is I am a student.

(the ´ben´ in both cases is not necessary as the endings give the ´person´ and is usually included only for emphasis)
