I refer to the use of -ise, and quote two sentences below.  Please can someone explain:-

(a) Are both correct?  If so what is the difference in their meaning?

(b) If one is incorrect, why is it incorrect?

If it is just a matter of colloquial usage, I´ll ask no more.

> (1)   Burasini beðenmediðimi söylesem, acaba cani sikilir mi?

> (2)   Burasini beðenmediðimi söylersem, acaba cani sikilir mi?

That sikilir mi?and sikildim looked a bit funny. I have the exact same problem when I type with a western keyboard. The verb sýkýlmak just doesn´t work too well with the I in lower case i

 Yes, hamdolsun, I am well and still in one piece.  You guessed correctly I only have recourse to English font.

But, keyboard and font is least of my worries. Speaking and understanding spoken Turkish is my big problem.  I seem to be aware of basic rules of syntax, but what use is that?  I wonder.  It is true one hopes that EVENTUALLY it will ´gel together´ ... but eventually we will all be dead too.

You are an accomplished linguist so I quote a verse from a meþhur bir Urdu Þa´ir [Mirza Asadollah ´Ã>alib´]:-

 I was wondering about that....if sýk with i instead had become an acceptable word in polite Turkish society since I left that country in 1969!
