Why is there so much controversy about this gentleman called Fethullah Gülen?

well, im not really qualified i guess to comment but i suppose he is classed as a high islamic scholar by millions of people.  Others ..according to my husband try to damage his reputation by saying things like he is against democracy and insinuating things that he wants to bring in Sharia laws...its a bit over my head but i have read lots of articles in on his website and see a lot of sense in what he writes. I read two of his books which i enjoyed very much also.

Rose, you had to read about him, instead of asking about him in the public forum and you know well that there will be a lot of speech which most of it will be just  nonsence

Looks like there are a lot of answers there so if anyone does have anything to add they can add it to the above thread rather than start all over.
