Konya to Cappadocia

As part of my trip in April, I´m spending 3 nights in Goreme, Cappadocia after visiting Konya. I had a bookmarked site that had details of buses around Turkey but I seem to have lost it. Has anyone ever made this trip by bus and if so can they let me know the details of the bus company etc.?
Also, is it advisable to take a guided tour around Cappadocia or is it possible to go it alone? Anyone know how much the tours are?
If anyone has any suggestions for what to visit I would be glad to read them. Please don´t mention balloons though, I´ll never go up in one of those things
Many thanks

Try www.turkeytravelplanner.com and deeplink from there.
Don´t forget to visit the Open Air Museum, the Dark Church (extra fee) and the Hidden Church (outside the museum grounds behind a small cafe) are worth visiting. If it´s open already, Flinstone Cave Bar is a nice place to hang out in the evenings.
In 2006 I stayed at Emre Cave House, a nice cheap hostel with also private rooms. Suleyman, the owner is a great guide. If you don´t stay there I think you still can do a tour with him. Take the street left of the belediye and you´ll find his hostel. Then I payed 40 YTL for a tour from 11.00-19.00 hours, including entrance fee to an underground city.

Thanks Trudy. I´ve booked my hotel already and they have sent me details of tours, but no prices, so your information is useful. I have the TTP site but have een unable to find bus routes apart from Istanbul to just about anywhere. Anyway, it gave me some great information for the journey to Edirne that I´ll be making from Istanbul.
Thanks again

Tell me about it when you get back, as we are doing something similar in August. We are going to Aladaglar hiking and wild camping and then to Cappadocia and perhaps will camp or try a b&b. We intend to go it alone, but I would like to hear what you think when you get back re tours etc.
I do want to go ballooning but looking at the price around £200 per person, I am not sure... But hell if I don´t I will regret it. It is like the paragliding, once you have done it you want to do it again.
Well have a great time and look forward to hearing all about it!!

We spent 3 nights in Cappadocia last year Peacetrain and intend including it in our holiday this year. It is a really spectacular and interesting area and for a short visit I think an organised tour is the only way to do it.

Thanks everyone. As I will be travelling alone, I think an organised tour will be best but I am on a budget and wasn´t sure how much this would cost. I´ve managed to find accommodation for 20 euros a night and the reviews of the place were good. I´ll soon find out for myself!
I´ve emailed the hotel and asked if they can provide information about the bus service between Konya and Goreme. I have to return to Konya because I am flying there from Istanbul courtesy of my accumulated airmiles with THY.
Libralady . . . paragliding? . . .and again? . . . are you mad!!!!

I found this site:
http://forum.virtualtourist.com/discussion-465200-1-1-Travel-0-0-Turkey-discussion.html?s=1
and someone replied to my question in detail. What I like about the site was that people seem to have put their life history on there. The guy that replied to me is elderly and his profile details his wedding, his family, his military service etc. It made interesting reading from a historical point of view.
The site isn´t only for tourists to Turkey, but anywhere in the world.
Anyway anyone who wants to visit Cappadocia by bus from just about anywhere in Turkey, here´s the bus timetable:
