For just adding some examples : (I´m not quite sure of the meanings but I´m sure that the conjugation is correct).(FR: le subjonctif est plus explicable en français qu´en anglais). If you felt uncomfortableScared, please run away quickly, we do not have any responsibility for damaging or harming your brain. If not, knock it off! and prepare for the wonderful world of tukish: Big smile (you know I was just kidding, don´t you?)

************************ Simple mode ********************************

Ýzmir´e gidiyorum = I´m going to Ýzmir.

Ýzmir´e giderim = I go to Ýzmir. (usually)

Ýzmir´e gideceðim = I will go to Ýzmir.

Ýzmir´e gitmiþim = I went to Ýzmir (As they said).

Ýzmir´e gittim = I went to Ýzmir.

Ýzmir´e gitmeliyim = I must go to Ýzmir.

Ýzmir´e gitsem = If I went to Ýzmir.

{Ýzmir´e gideyim ~~ that I go to Ýzmir. (que j´aille à Ýzmir)

{Ýzmir´e gide ~~ that he go to Ýzmir. (qu´il aille à Ýzmir)

************************ past mode (add: -di) **************************

Ýzmir´e gidiyordum = i was going to Ýzmir.

Ýzmir´e giderdim = I used to go to Ýzmir.

Ýzmir´e gidecektim = I would go to Ýzmir. (Future in the past)

Ýzmir´e gitmiþtim = I had been to Ýzmir.(As they said)

Ýzmir´e gittiydim = I had been to Ýzmir.

Ýzmir´e gitmeliydim = I had to go to Ýzmir.

Ýzmir´e gitseydim = If (only) I have been to Ýzmir.

Ýzmir´e gideydim ~~ that I be to Ýzmir. (past meaning)

************************ conditional mode (add: -se) ********************

Ýzmir´e gidiyorsam = If I´m going to Ýzmir. (right now)

Ýzmir´e gidersem = If I go to Ýzmir.(periodically)

Ýzmir´e gideceksem = If I´m going to Ýzmir. (in the future)

Ýzmir´e gitmiþsem = If I went to Ýzmir (according to them)

Ýzmir´e gittiysem = If I went/had been to Ýzmir.(In a specific moment of the past)

[this mode doesn´t accept obligation(-meli), conditional (-se), conjunctive (-e) or "subjonctif"]

************************ past conditional mode (add: -diyse) *************

( this mode is used for making indirect speech)

Ýzmir´e gidiyorduysam = If I was going to Ýzmir.(at that time)

Ýzmir´e gidecektiysen = (that seems a bit confusing, but : I´m bringing someone´s speech, I´m talking about events in a moment (Ex: 10/02/1978) then in the speech I´m reporting, it was there a sentence; that you (-n) would go to Ýzmir on 21/02/1978) OR : you can just let it go, ´cause no one (not Turkish of course) would use this tense anyway, or even more, the whole mode.

Ýzmir´e gitmiþdiysem = "If I had gone to Ýzmir, As they said.", Ayþe said. (someone is reporting Ayþe´s speech).

Ýzmir´e gittiydiysem = "If I had gone to Ýzmir.", Ayþe said. (someone is reporting Ayþe´s speech).

>> There are two other modes (Inferencial simple & Conditional Inferencial), the same use of the conditional except replacing respectively "-se & -diyse" by "-miþ & miþse",those are made often for narration, and people don´t often need using them in casual talking. (FR: c´est comme on dit : on dit que/comme ils disent...). I´ll give you some examples (not sure of the meanings), they are parts of a whole sentence (I meant there is something else to tell after them):

Ýzmir´e gidiyormuþum = They say that I´m going to Ýzmir.(right now)

Ýzmir´e gidermiþim = They say that I go (usually) to Ýzmir.

Ýzmir´e gidecekmiþim = They say that I´m going to Ýzmir.(in the future)

Ýzmir´e gitmiþmiþim = they say that I ´ve/I´d been to Ýzmir. (that sentence makes me laugh <img src='/static/images/smileys//lol.gif' alt='lol'><img src='/static/images/smileys//lol.gif' alt='lol'><img src='/static/images/smileys//lol.gif' alt='lol'>)

Ýzmir´e gitmeliymiþim = they say that I should´ve been to Ýzmir.

Ýzmir´e gitseymiþim = they say : "If only I´ve/I´d been to Ýzmir.

Ýzmir´e gideymiþim = they say : "..... that I should´ve been Ýzmir".

Ýzmir´e gidiyormuþsam = If, as they say, I´m going to Ýzmir.

Ýzmir´e gidermiþsem = If, as they say, I go to Ýzmir.

Ýzmir´e gidecekmiþsem = If, as they say, I will go to Ýzmir.

Ýzmir´e gitmiþmiþsem = If, as they say, I´ve / I´d been to Ýzmir.

I hope I was clear enough, and above all, I hope I´m right. If any turkish gentleman wanna correct that ...... He´s free to do!

Toodles
