If anybody knows the famus Turkish writer Aziz Nesin, may also know the Nesin Foundation.
Nesin Foundation has been established on 1972 by Aziz Nesin in the town of Catalca, 40km from Istanbul. The purpose of the Foundation was the "hospitality" of poor children all around Turkey.
Nowadays about 45 children are living in the foundation, ages from 2 to 26. The staff of the Foundation are volunteers who give all their love and care to these children.
The only income of the Foundation are the donations from people all around the world and the income from Aziz Nesin's books as well.
I have visited the Foundation last month, and I was so surprised of that nice place, it seems like a big house for a very big family. The children there are growing up near the nature and have a lot of alternatives for their free time after school ( ceramik workshop, wood workshop , painting, learning chess are some of them). The other thing surprised me was the number of books in the two libraries of the Foundation, so many books for all the ages!
I think it will be very interesting to have a look in the Foundation's official page (in Turkish):

çok tesekkür ederim,
Georgia

That is really amazing that someone here knows about Aziz Nesin's foundation. People who do not know Aziz Nesin should eally read his books and then we can understand the real meaning of life and see what in life is important.
Do you know that people from Sivas ( a city next to Ankara)had tried to kill Aziz Nesin and many other intelectuals 1998 because their opinions were different. Unfortunately, 36 intelectuals were burned alive in presence of brave Turkish solidiers in a hotel in Sivas. Aziz Nesin could be saved but the other 36 persons were burned.
The amazing thing about that tradegy was that the killers were never found and the ones who were arrested got a sentence of 10 years and they have been released recently and their leader has been caputered by German police recently in Germany. When they investigated how that person could get out of Turkey that time, they discovered that the states had provided the person a special passport. Can a human being understand that? Is that possible anywhere else in the world?
By the way, those killers have always claimed that those intelectual had deserved to be burned in the name of GOD and Islam.
By the way Aziz Nesin was one of the first thinkers in Turkey who dared to say that he was a comunist and that all religions were a bullshit
