Maybe you dont know it. This is a tradition. For marriage, first boy and his family goes to the house of girl's family. Then they are talking about something in life, after that father of boy asked: "we want your girl for our boy". That is it, in fact: seni babandan isteteceğim: i will make you be wanted from your father.(boy doesnt want, boys father wants)

Yes that's right. "Seni babandan istiyeceğim" means "I will ask your father for his permission or approval to marry you".

I just wanted to be shure about the translatation. As you see, the situation is serious.
I just worry who should be at the families meeting as a translatator...
Thanks for all of you for the answers

An elder person that both sides would respect will be suitable as translator...
Important note: Bride designate will be expected to make and serve Turkish coffee to all present, before any requests can be made by the suitors. Taste of the coffee, as well as the grace with which it is served is important. No coffee, no request.
It would be an absolute insult, if the suitors were asked if they would prefer Coca-Cola instead.

Reading Alpha's post has made me smile (is it just my bad mind??) I think it is the reference to Coca cola and what the advert we saw on a previous post reminded us of....perhaps it is just me...or .. are you teasing again Alpha?
