Hi,

We were wondering if anybody could help us to clarify the complicated issues of gaining a UK visa.

Ok here is the situation, we are both in Turkey at the moment, my fiance is hoping to gain a UK visa so that we can return to the UK together at the end of the summer.  But as we all know the world of visas is not an easy one.  We have looked on the UK border agency but would like to clarify the actual name/number of the fiance visa form.

Also if anyone could give any advice, it would be most appreciated.

Thank you millions of times,

Tiff

You most probably know that the UK borders have been tightened and have introduced the Points based system.  You have to fit into a certain Tier to be able to come to the UK if you are outside the EU or EEA.  It is quite complicated although the borders agency say it has been simplified.  There are now 5 tiers:

  • Tier 1 for highly skilled workers with mountains of cash behind them and very highly qualified (MSc)
  • Tier 2 is for skilled workers who have got to have a job offer from a company that is registered with the UKBA and there are also money, qualifications and language critieria and the job has to a shortage occupation
  • Tier 3 is for non skilled workers and has not been activated yet due to the recession and other factors being we already have too many migrants of low skill in the country (so the UKBA say)
  • Tier 4 is for students
  • Tier 5 is for those more unusal workers, such as muscians, ballet dancers, circus performers and the like

I am not sure how this will affect Turks wanting to come to Britian but I guess you will have to fit into either Tier1 or 2.

Here is the UKBA website and this will give you more details for the Points Based System.  The obvious answer is to go to the UK Consulate in Turkey and find out what you have to do now.
