I´m sorry about the other day. What I said was really mean, and I didn´t mean it. I was  mad at you because you should have told me you still loved her.  I understand your situation, the same thing happened to me a year ago. Someone also broke my heart and I´m being a hypocrit because I still have feelings for him and I always will. I wouldn´t have been mad if you had told me  before. It´s not fair because now I have feelings for you and I did things with you. I feel as if you used me and  lied to me about your feelings. I´ll stick by you if you want me to and maybe when you forget about her we can be together.

normally the expression is ´I feel the need´ to make sure. (which is probably what you meant)

But you can also say ´I need to feel´ to make sure.. (eg. if you were checking tomatoes for firmness)
