I understand that you have been having migraines.

I hope the medicine is working and you are feeling better now.

Thank you for the correction Falcetus. It would also be helpful if you could give feedback as to whether the sentence you corrected was totally wrong or gramatically correct but not the best choice of vocabulary, understandable but not correct, etc. As a learner, I would much appreciate feedback, it helps me to learn.

to work: çalýþmak, iþe yaramak, etkili olmak, iþlemek, çabalamak, iþ yapmak, etc.

In Turkish, "çalýþmak" is an action peculiar to people, devices, vehicles or something.

For medicines generally we use "iþe yaramak (to be useful)" or "etkili olmak, etkisini göstermek (to be effective).

So, you´re not wrong, it´s only choice.

This is great, thank you so much, very helpful. Flowers

What would you use for something abstract or actions? For example if you wanted to say that you tried to do something but your attempts didn´t produce results? Like in the sentence: I was trying to ask her/him out but no matter what I said it wasn´t working? Would maybe "baþarýlý olmamak" be better than an equivalent of "working" in this context?

Thank you again.

 you tried to do something but your attempts didn´t produce results

faydasý olmamak

faydasýz olmak

boþuna uðraþmak

iþe yaramamak

baþaramamak (better choice than baþarýlý olmamak)

And an example;

I think we´ll divorce, it´s not working.

Sanýrým boþanacaðýz, yürümüyor.
