What does ne haber used the dictionary and it came out as what news (think)

My teacher said when people know each other well the often say this

Yes, its used for ´what´s news?´. It is like asking "what´s up?" in English.

You often see it shortened to naber on text messages. (ne haber)

Also used is ´ne var, ne yok´ which literally means ´what is, what isn´t´ and is basically asking the same thing as ne haber
