Hi,

I have just begun studying turkish and there are some things that are not quite clear to me. I would appreciate very much if u could help me:

My questions are the following:

 1.) Sen zayýfsýn.
Or: Sen bir zayýfsýn
which is one is correct?

2.) O zayýf.  (without adding the suffix “dir&rdquo
But: Sen zayýfsýn.( with suffix “ sýn&rdquo
Why????

3.) O kadýn. (without any suffix)
But: Ben bir kadýným(with the suffix “ým&rdquo
Does it mean that the 3-d person singular he/she /it does not require the suffix :”dir”?

Thank u very much in advance.

Merhaba,

Welcome to Turkish Class and good luck in learning Turkish. I´ll try to answer your questions.

1)  ´Sen zayýfsýn´ is the correct one. Because adjective verbs do not take ´bir´ before them. Same as in English.

Ex 1: Sen zayýfsýn - You´re slim

It is not ´You´re a slim´

Ex 2: Bu renk kýrmýzý - This colour is red

It is not ´This colour is a red´

However you can add ´bir´ before noun verbs.

Ex: Bu bir araba - This is a car.

2 & 3) They have the same answer and you already said that. 3rd person singular does not get a pronoun suffix. You can add -dir at the end, if you want.
