How many years your primary school has ?

Thank you. If this is to be taken literally, then in Turkey is primary school all education levels up to high school?

 As i know in Turkey primary school has 8 years.

if i translate it word by word it becomes like  "what´s your primary school age" but i dont get what he/she meant by it although i´m a native i never used this sentence if the other natives know the meaning hope they can help btw yes in turkey the primary school is 8 years it´s a compulsory education after that students go into high schools for 4years and then university
