Update on life in Turkey

Hello everyone,

I hope we are all well? sorry it has been sometime again now since my last post and I have a bit of spare time so thought I would drop in with an update on life in Istanbul.

My daughter is now nearly five months old and I am a full-time dad, a job was not certain but there was an opening at Ataturk airport however with my wife working now four days a week and having Friday off there was nobody to look after our daughter Melissa.  I am now looking for any work that is home based if anyone has any ideas then I would really appreciate your input.  We looked into the idea of a childminder or babysitter but as you can appreciate they are both expensive and ideally when you first have a young baby not something myself anyway would consider.

My wife finishes her job next August and retires at 45, yes this is true, we then plan to go back to the U.K. to live but keep our apartment here in Turkey available should we return later.  I will go back to full-time work hopefully at the hospital and we will just see how it goes? we both said we are not sure about later so we will see.

Anyway have to go my daughter has just woke!

Take care all Loveprague

Hello,

We are both talking in our languages so she will have both Turkish and English learnt hopefully when she grows up.  My wife also talks very good english so that is also very beneficial

Hello Richard, it is always nice to hear from you and learn your news and your daughter looks so happy and content. It you speak to Melissa in english and Nersin speaks  to her in Turkish, she will automatically learn both langauges. Wish i could have retired at 45 Cry

Hi Rich -

I don´t know if this suggestion will work in Turkey, but when I was home when my son was a baby, I watched 2 other babies (my neighbors kids) to make extra money.

Hopeeveryone is happy and healthy!  Nice to here from you.

Yes....why not?  I think a man is perfectly capable.....but you may have trouble getting people in Turkey who think so.
