I have re-worded some of his English.
The Ottoman sultan was the commander in chief. Usually he joined expeditions leading his army. There were also times he did not go, and assigned a vizier called “Serdar-ý Ekrem”. The expeditions that the sultan himself attended are called “sefer-i hümayun”. Just as, Prophet himself leaded his army in some expeditions, and in some expeditions he did not attend, and assigned someone else as commander. The first one is called “gazve (gaza)” and the latter is called “seriye”.
German expedition
When Ferdinand laid a siege on Budin again, Kanuni Sultan Süleyman decided to start a war directly against Þarlken (Karl V.) But Þarlken did not show up. This time Ferdinand was obliged to ask for peace. With the Ãstanbul Agreement (1533) he totally gave up the Hungarian Kingdom. He agreed to be considered at the same level as a vizier. This way Karl V abandoned his desires on Hungary. With this agreement the Ottoman Empire strengthened its superiority in Europe. The conflict with Austria continued afterwards. Ferdinand disregarded the agreements with the Ottomans and attacked Hungarian lands. But each time he was defeated. The expedition of Zigetvar was Kanuni’s last expedition against Austria (1566). But Kanuni died before seeing the sieged Zigetwar taken. The German Emperior Karl could never stand against Kanuni. As a result of defeats against Turks he was obliged to abdicate.
