So my boyfriend is taking me to his favorite Turkish resturant tomorrow night for dinner. He´s really excited about it and is talking about how much we are going to eat. My problem is that I had a surgery and it limits what I types of things I can eat. I mainly eat low fat, not too many carbs. I can´t eat anything cooked in oil, and only poultry and seafood (sounds like a diet eh? It´s really not though, I´ll get sick if I eat certain things). So, although he´s very supportive with my limited eating capabilities (ha ha) he sometimes just forgets/doesn´t understand the limits and orders me things that are difficult one me. I´d like to ask you guys what you think is a good choice.

First of all don´t feel bad about reminding him about your medical condition, while acknowledging the excitement of going to his favorite restaurant. Also, don´t let him make you feel guilty if you can´t eat the dishes that he likes most or wants you to try.. I think it might be good if you reminded him about this ahead of time, so that both of you can prepare and avoid the disappointment while you´re there.. Maybe the restaurant you´re going to has an online menu and you can check ahead of time what you will order.

Excellent advice.....wish I had taken it myself in the past....OH well....I´ve had more problems from being too polite, and eating what I knew I should not have.....it can kill you, so be careful and only eat what you know will not give you problems.

I´ve already reminded him , he says that it doesn´t matter, I can order anything I want and he knows that I won´t be able to eat it all so he´ll eat it . Thanks for the advice though, he´s pretty excited about it so I think I´ll remind him again tomorrow.

Yes, I had to master the ´letting down gently´ skill pretty quickly with him. He´s really good about my eating though, he´s learning with me what I can and can´t eat. He hates it when I get sick from eating certain things and takes care that I don´t eat it again afterward lol
