I think he might have meant ´dayı´ for uncle (dayım - my uncle, mother´s brother.)

Dayanım has to be dayım.
If it is your mother´s brother it has to be amcam
If it is your father´s brother it has to be dayım

AMCA > your FATHER´s brother
DAYI > your MOTHER´S brother
dayı > maternal
amca > paternal
