Diyemedik means "we couldn't say". The "e" in bold is the inabilitative suffix.

Here are a few more examples:

gitmedik: we didnt go
gidemedik: we couldn't go

satın almadık : we didn't buy
satın alamadık : we couldn't buy

görmedik : we didn't see
göremedik : we couldn't see

Ooh, this just proves the value of repetition in the posts. I knew this 'e' inabilitative suffix, but I had completely forgotten about it.
Everyday, I like to learn or remember just one small new thing because I dont have time to study all the time. So my learning needs are modest. Just one word or grammar rule per day is all I can aspire to. This was today's I will never forget it again. Thanks.
