What is the difference between -im and yordum?

In the example you gave bildim and biliyordum it´s DIM and IYORDUM

dim gives past tense - so bildim- I knew
iyor dum - biliyordum- I was knowing

geldim=i was came

but yor it is refers to present tense for example

çalişiyor= iam working

that is my try

 geldim = I came

geliyorum = I am coming

geliyor - he/she/it is coming

çalışıyor = he/she/it is working

geliyordum = I was coming.

çalışıyordum = I was working.

gelecektim = I was going to come.

çalışıyorsam = If I am working.

geliyorsam = If I am going to come.

çalıştım = I worked.

geldiydim = I had come.

çalışacaktım = I was going to work.

hata (error) geliyorsam = If I am going to come Yanliş (wrong)

geliyorsam = If I am coming doğru (correct).

I am coming  -  geliyorum

I came  -  geldim

I shall/will come –geleceğim

I was coming -  geliyordum

I have come – geldim

I had come -  gelmiştim

I shall/will be coming – geliyor olacağım

I can come  gelebilirim

I am able to come - gelebilirim

I could be come – gelmiş olabilirim
