Ben şu nedenlerle o cümleyi yazdım.
I´ve written that sentence for the following reasons.
Sizin de çok iyi bildiğiniz gibi:
As you very well know:
-Bir tercümanın tercümesini yapacağı dili, o ana dilin konuşulduğu toplumun tarihini, kültürünü, sosyal yapısını, hukuk düzenini, değer yargılarını, sokak dilini ve günlük yaşam biçimini bilmesi gerekir.
In order for a translator to translate a language, s/he has to know the history of the spoken native language´s community, the culture, the social structure, the law, the order, the judical value, the slang (street) language and daily life´s forms/formats.
-Daha sonra çeviri yapacağı yabancı dili, o yabancı dilin konuşulduğu ülkenin tarihini, kültürünü, sosyal yapısını, hukuk düzenini, değer yargılarını, sokak dilini ve günlük yaşam biçimini bilmesi gerekir.
After that foreign language translations will be done. knowledge of the history of the spoken form of the foreign language, the culture, the social structure, the law, the order, the judical value, the street (slang) language and daily life´s forms/formats is necessary.
-Bu demektir ki, tercümanın her iki dile de bütün yönlerden hakim olması gerekir.
This means that the translator also has to dominate all aspects of the two languages.
-Bu iki ayrı toplumdaki tüm bu değerler de tabii ki ayrı ayrı ve farklı olduğu için, söz ve kavramların bu iki ana dildeki karşılıklarını iyi bulmak, karşılıkları yoksa yeni söz ve kavramlar üretmek ya da yeni anlam kalıpları oluşturmak, çeviride dil ve anlam değişikliklerine yol açmamak gerekir.
In these two seperate societies in all of the values, due to being seperate and different of course, finding equivalences to words and concepts in both of these native languages is good, creating equivalences or new words and concepts or generating new meaning patterns n the translated language (text) shouldn´t lead to the changing of the meaning.
-Bu nedenlerle, sizin de çok iyi bildiğiniz gibi, tercüme çok zahmetli bir iştir (prosestir).
For these reasons, as you very well know, transalting is a very troublesome job (the process that is)

We benefit a lot from your translations here, and as a teacher we´d like to thank you.
Sanıyorum bu iki dildeki başarınız, kitaplara olan yakınlığınızdan, uluslararası bilgi birikiminizden, sürekli kitap okumanızdan ve eleştiri kültürünüzden kaynaklanıyor.
I think (the reasons behind) your success in two languages comes from your closeness to books, your accumulation of knowledge of different people, your constant reading of books and your criticisim of your culture.
Türkiye´de kitap yazanlara ve tercümanlara büyük saygı duyulmaktadır.Örneğin, Yasaya göre, ülkemizde kitap hazırlayan kimseler (yazar) ve mütercimler (çevirmen:tercüman)´in kazançlarından gelir vergisi alınmamaktadır.
In Turkey, authors and translators are recognized and respected. An exapmle; in accordance with the law, people who prepare (write) books in our country (author) and translators(interpreter:translator) income tax is not cut out of their salaries.
Türkiye´de kitap okuyan insan sayısı her yıl artış göstermektedir.
It has been noticed that the number of people reading books has increased.
Ama kitap piyasasında bilgi ve deneyim sahibi tercüman sayısı artıyor mu? Bu konuda iyimser değilim.
But in the books´ market, is the number of knowledgeable and experienced translators increasing? In this regard, I´m not optimistic.
