Merhaba

I was wondering whether this sentence is correct or not...

Her çiçek kokmaz (Every flower does not smell).

Yani, because I´ve read in the second lesson of Pronouns that "If the meaning of a pronoun is negative, it must always be used in a negative sentence".

Shouldn´t it be hiç  instead of her.

If not could someone plesase explain to me the diffrence {#emotions_dlg.shy}

Şimdiden teşekkürler

If you say, "Her çiçek kokmaz." it means "Not every flower smells."

But if you say, "Hiç çiçek kokmaz. / Çiçek hiç kokmaz." it means "No flower smells."

I hope this could help.

Well,

I would say

Hiç çiçek kokmaz = It doesn´t smell any flower (around here)

or you don´t smell any flower (around here)

or there is no flower that smells (around here)

on the other hand

çiçek hiç kokmaz would be

The flower doesn´t smell (at all)

And

No flower smells = hiç bir çiçek kokmaz

"her" (=every) is adjective (all or each one of)

her çiçek (=bütün çiçekler) kokmaz - not every flower (=not all flowers) is fragrant

her at (=bütün atlar) hızlı koşamaz - not every horse (=not all horses) can run fast

şu raftaki her kitabı (=bütün kitapları ) okudum - I have read every book (=all the books) on that shelf

"hiç" (=never) is adverb (at no time; on no occasion):

yurt dışında hiç bulunmadı - he has never been abroad

sinemaya hiç gitmez - she never goes to the cinema

"hiç" only used in negative sentences.
