I don´t think that example on the site is correct.  It gives ´e´ as pronounced like the ´e´ in the English word ´less´ and it gives ´ı´ as pronounced like the ´e´ in t he English word ´halted´.  In both these English words the ´e´ is pronounced exactly the same - but the Turkish letters ´e´ and ´ı´ don´t sound the same.  However, if the example for pronunciation of the ´ı´ was to be ´halter´ - I think that would be much closer to the correct sound for the Turkish letter.

Listen here for pronunciation of the whole alphabet

Maybe you can try http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQp9nFuwXN4&feature=related its a woman going through the Turkish alphabet with a close up of her mouth so you can see what way to form your mouth when you say them, sounds strange I know, but it really helped me, as I´ve also struggled with the pronunciation of those vowels

Listen some Turkish music with lyrics, I know that it is a useful method to have an idea about the pronunciation.
