The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Culture section (İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi Kültür A.S.) has several larger books with more complex English and Turkish texts side by side. The large books cost around 45 TL and were mainly about Istanbul. The books I bought were Ben Istanbulum, 200 pages about the experiences of several different people living in Istanbul including colour photos, and the other one was about details of the city´s history (Istanbul collective memory, spacial continuities) which has 156 pages, maps and photos.

I purchased both from their large bookstore on İstiklal Caddesi No:379, Beyoğlu, İstanbul,

They have a web-site at Istanbul Kitapcı

fono books can be useful. even if they are for turks learning english, you can use it to learn turkish. this books are one page english and one page turkish. very simple english and normal turkish on pages.

There is a whole series of children´s books by Milet and Mantralingua. Available in the UK. Also we sell these in our bookstore in Istanbul - here is the link:

Greenhouse - Dual Language

For adults, there are the Fono books, but watch out! The grading is for the English, not for the Turkish. So level 1 may be easier English, but they use a "normal" level of Turkish when switching to Turkish.

For advanced learners, Milet have a series of short stories by popular Turkish authors.

Here are some links from our website:

Rıfat Ilgaz

Firüzan

Aziz Nesin

Muzaffer İzgü
