Agree the first translation is correct, but probably it´s not by a native speaker of English.

Maybe the best translation to English would be "have you become blonde, my friend?"

I think the confusion with were you blonde comes from the fact that oldun is past tense.

sarışın: to be blonde

sarışın olmak: to become blonde

So: sarışın mıydın: were you blonde

sarışın mı oldun: have you become blonde? (emphasis on the blonde bit)

sarışın oldun mu: did you become blonde (emphasis on changing the heair colour)
