I´m new here and from what I have seen here in the forum there isn´t any real translations for dinner/drinking and informal chatting. I would like to get some translations for a couple of sentences and words, some of them which I already know but wonder how they are used in daily/formal speech. And I would looove to learn informal words, such as slang words and simplified words that are used often. I hope someone will be able to enlighten me a little
Excuse me, waiter! (bakar misiniz? I have no idea where I got that from, just a huuge guess) Bakar mısınız (lıterally ´do you look?´ - i.e. ´will you look at me?´
I would like a strawberry daiquiri, please. Çilek daiquiri istiyorum.
Pardon; I changed my mind - I would like a beer instead, thank you. Kusura bakmaya; fikirim değiştiririm - bir bira (daiquiri) yerine istiyorum.
Is there any drink which you recommend? Ne içki tavsiye ediyor mısınız?
What raki brand do you have? Rakı ne marka var mi?
Do you have sağlam anywhere around here? ´sağlam´ means ´strong, trustworthy, reliable´. Do you really mean this word?
Do you serve ayran? Ayran var mı?
Thank you (when do I use sağ ol? Can it be used for anything for saying thanks?) Sağ ol, sağolun, teşekkurler, teşekkur ederim
(I was told originally that ´sağ ol´ is used to say thank you for something unexpected - such as someone giving you a present - but I don´t think this is right as I hear it used equally as much as teşekkurler or teşekkur ederim. I am sure a native speaker will confirm or deny this.)
How much is it? Kaç para?/O ne kadar?
(You can use the verb ´istemek´ (to want) for ´would like´ - it´s not as rude as it sounds in English! ´Var mı?´ = ´is there any?´ and used for ´do you have?´
My attempt as a learner.
