can anyone please translate this proverb to english;

Midyata pirince giderken, evdeki bulgurdan olmayalım

Midyat´a pirince giderken evdeki bulgurdan olmak.

It says:

You can lose the bulgur (a less valuable or desirable item) you already have in your home,  when going to Midyat for rice [a more valuable or desirable one (that you do not already have)]

If we make it short:

"be happy with what you´ve got, and make the best of it".

Original Pronounce is:

Dimyat´a pirince giderken evdeki bulgurdan olmak

False> Midyat´a pirince giderken evdeki bulgurdan olmak (because changed day by day, by people)

Proverb means:

colloquial to lose what one has in the effort to get something better.

dimyat is a place name in egypt famous with its rice. egypt once was part of ottomans.

 It makes more sense to have Dimyat instead of Midyat.
