How to delete facebook account?

I have deactivated my facebook but want to delete it completely and permanently. Is there a way?

Doesn´t seem to be  - they seem to be convinced no-one wants to leave forever!! The only answer is once you deactivated your account just forget about it

I thought it goes away after 3 months or something, like a hotmail account, if you just don´t log in anymore after deactivating

How absurd! You just want to come in to see a friend, but you are not allowed to to go out again! Then maybe it wasn´t worth coming in at all!

One would think so, but I joined FB a few years ago. Didn´t log on for well over a couple of years, then found my account was still there, just had not been active.
