Notice: I´m leaving early morning, so around 5-7 hours later from this post, there probably isn´t a need to answer.
Hi/Merhaba!
I´m on a study abroad trip to Istanbul, Turkiye for four weeks; today was the last of the first week.
So far: HOLY CRAP, IT IS AMAZING.
I had a bit of an issue, though. I was planning to do some reading at the Pierre Loti Cafe in Eyup (it´s in Istanbul, European side). Anyways, if you know, instead of having to take the hike down the mountain, you can take a skylift/aerial tramway.
Problem: I left my textbook on the tramway. I didn´t realize this until many hours later, but I´m hoping maybe someone found it. We´ll see: I´m going early tomorrow morning, which is a Sunday. Hope they´re open.
But, I don´t know how to ask: I did the Google Translation and here is what I got:
Ben hava tramvay üzerine dün ve içimde bir kitap kaybetti.
That should say something to the effect that I was on the aerial tramway yesterday, but lost my book.
Kitabın adı "Klasik Arapça Felsefe" dir.
This should be something close to: the name of the book is Classical Arabic Philosophy.
Will this work? Has anyone ever been to this aerial tramway? Know any hints/who to appraoch?
Thanks,
~Ibrahim~
I´m not a native speaker but what you had looks almost correct although you could make it a bit simpler by just saying ´I lost a book on the aerial tramway yesterday´ - which, hopefully, is what I have translated above. You could also add ´Has someone/anyone found it?´ - ´Birisi onu buldu mu acaba?´
I´ve been to Eyup but not to the aerial tramway so no help from me there I´m afraid - although ´kayıp eşya´ = ´lost property´ and maybe you will see this sign somewhere. Good Luck!
